AJEE Joins San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment
DORA
We are delighted to announce that AJEE is now a signatory of DORA - The Declaration on Research Assessment, demonstrating our dedication to improving the evaluation of researchers and scholarly research outputs.
In line with this commitment, we have outlined the following initiatives to enhance our Journal:
- Reducing Emphasis on Impact Factor: We aim to minimize the reliance on the journal impact factor as a promotional tool. Instead, we will provide a diverse range of journal-based metrics, including the 5-year impact factor, EigenFactor, SCImago, h-index, and editorial and publication times, to offer a more comprehensive assessment of journal performance.
- Providing Article-Level Metrics: We will introduce various article-level metrics to encourage assessment based on the scientific content of each article, rather than solely on journal-level metrics. Additionally, we will enrich post-publication discussions and incorporate feedback from readers to enhance the published content.
- Promoting Responsible Authorship: We endorse responsible authorship practices by providing detailed information about the specific contributions of each author. To facilitate this, we utilize the CRediT Taxonomy to accurately describe each contribution and offer comprehensive guidance to authors on its correct implementation.
- Removing Reuse Limitations: As an open-access journal, we plan to eliminate all reuse limitations on reference lists in research articles, making them available under the Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication.
- Reducing Constraints on References: We do not impose any constraints on the number of references in research articles. Furthermore, we prioritize the citation of primary literature over reviews whenever appropriate, to ensure proper credit is attributed to the group(s) who first reported a finding.
We believe that these initiatives will contribute to creating a more transparent and equitable publishing environment within our Journal. We look forward to your continued support and collaboration
